Christmas Show 2007Christmas 2006

~*Edit On This Post *~  I am going to leave this post the way I wrote it back when I started this blog…but over the last several months I’ve done alot of thinking and soul searching and have decided not to retire from shows completely just yet….Just not going to do as many as I use to, which was 10 to 12 a year. Doing 4 this year and may go down to 2 next year. As I said below…Stay tuned and we’ll see together where this journey takes me.

I have recently made the decision to retire from doing craft shows after 24 years. As many artist/designers know, shows have not been that good for quite a few years now. I’ve been struggling with this decision about retiring from the show circuit for the past couple of years but had no idea what I would do with my time upon retiring. But with my husband’s encouragement I started selling on eBay this past summer and I finally figured out what I would be doing after leaving the shows.

I have decide to go ahead and do “The Ohio Sauerkraut Festival” this fall as my last show. I also have some merchandise left over from last year and this show has always been a special one to me. We lived in Waynesville for 9 years and I had a shop there for a few of the them. This will be my 20th year there. We usually see old friends there, so this will give us a chance to let them know that I’m finally retiring. I certainly will not miss the long hours that go into doing shows but I will miss all the wonderful customers and fellow crafters that I met over the years.

I’ve been in the arts and craft business for a long time, it is a part of me and who I am. I’ve done the shows, had the country shop, worked in a quilt shop, taught classes and am now looking forward to sharing what I know from all these years of crafting with others through my blog. Stay tuned and we’ll see together where this journey takes me.

  1. I can’t wait to see the pictures of your kitchen; I want to paint ours, but have to get up the nerve! I’ll be reading your entries awaiting the final reveal.

  2. Merrie,
Thanks for visiting my blog. I hope to have my kitchen done soon. It was a bigger job than I ever dreamed it would be and but I know it will be worth it in the end. Hang in there with me alittle longer and I will have lots of pictures to share.
