~Does Anyone Know What This Prim Light Used To Be?~
This is one of the goodies that I picked up on my shopping trip with my sister. We went to one of our favorite thrift stores called “Home Again”. It is a fairly new store in town…they purchase your items that you don’t want anymore and resale them. Wow was it our lucky day!! The night before they had gotten in a bunch of country prim items. My sister got herself a very old teddy bear, a raggedy doll, a vintage plate and vase…And she got me this prim light. Does anyone know what this might of been before it was turned into a light? It appears to be old and has some rust on the inside and outside. I’m not sure if I’m going to leave the homespun fabric bows on it or not. I can’t make up my mind on which room to put it in…might try it in different places to see where I like it the best.
Here’s a few other things that my sister got me while we were out on my Christmas gift shopping trip.
A rusty cow bell…I want to paint the star to make it stand out more. Hmmm…black, barn red or mustard?
We picked these up at Kmart for 90% off. I’m going to replace the red ribbon with some homespun fabric and leave them out through the end of January. My sister also got me some Ghiradelli chocolate and treated me to dinner. We had a lot of fun!!
This was what she actually gave me on Christmas day with the note that said my gift was a shopping trip with her. It says “Cherish Yesterday, Dream Tomorrow, Snow Today” And I’ve been wondering where has all the snow gone? We were expecting a snow storm of Friday night into Saturday with ice and up to 7 inches of snow…we had a storm watch then a storm warning, but it never came. We did get a little ice, but by late morning the roads were just wet. We have had ice warnings 4 times in the last the few weeks…I would much rather have snow than ice. It was a good thing that we didn’t get a bad storm as we spent Friday and Saturday helping Laura get moved out. As Friday got closer, I was feeling excited for her and a little sad for me all at the same time…
But when we got up on Friday morning, it turned out to be a really sad day! We got woke up by sirens at 5:40am…one of neighbors home, on the street behind us, was on fire. It was a 7 alarm fire and their house burnt totally to the ground. They got out fine, plus her mother who lived with them…but lost their dog and cat. I have never seen a house burn so quickly like it did. My friend Linda is a dispatcher and she said that the call came in at 5:30am, that they thought they had an electric fire cause by a ceiling light that shorted as it was turned on, but 10 minutes later the whole house was engulfed in flames. I’m so thankful that they got out…they have been in our thoughts and prayers. We have heard that they plan to rebuild.
Tomorrow during the day, I plan to get back to work on finishing some items that I want to list on my selling blog and esty. And now that Laura is all moved…hopefully, we can get back to working in the kitchen is the evenings and weekends.
Until next time…. prim blessings, Cindy

How awful for your neighbors! Scary. Your goodies are great — are you sure that’s a light or lamp? It’s very different — betcha it would look great with a battery tea light or electric candle. Love the sheep, too — I have the same one… SO cute!

I have to agree with Karen…It is indeed an antique toaster! I have the exact same one that I picked up at a Flea market last year…I didn’t know what to do with it, so I am glad that I came across your post and showed that it could be made into a light! How charming!
Your finds are awesome…I wouldn’t mind shopping with you!

Cindy,
I actually just found your blog last night and added you to my blog roll! I found you via one of my favorite blogs…was just looking at their blog roll and thought I would check you out! I love your work and love your blog
Hi
I love your old toaster! I want to get one myself, but I haven’t found a good deal yet. I’m picky about what I’m willing to pay and some people around here think that anything that’s OLD means it’s worth a lot of money!
Have a great day

Hi Cindy!
Not sure what your light use to be. A toaster is a good guess. The Thrift store sounds like a great place!
I saw on your side bar some of the places where you’ll be this year. We use to have our Santa’s in Waynesville. Maybe we can make it over to the Kraut festival this year. Would love to meet you and see all of your wonderful creations in person.
I love your Christmas present from your sis! That is way cool!
We’ve had about the same kind of weather, although they’re saying 2 fast moving clippers will hit us starting tonight. We’ll see if they’re right this time.
Such a sad thing about your neighbors.
Take care -
Terry
