~Swap Goodies & Thrift Shop Finds~

I had signed up to do a swap through Angie’s blog “Simple Thyme Primitives”  and my swap buddy was Beth from “Olde Tyme Marketplace”…I was so excited yesterday when I went to the mailbox to find my package of goodies.

img_2642 And this is what was she sent me…I could smell sweet annie before I ever opened the package, but what a surprise to find out the it was a “Sweet Annie” doll. She is now sitting on top of a basket in my living room. I placed the cloth on top of my antique sewing cabinet (the one I tweaked in my last post). And I’m going to use the journal she sent me to write down the projects that I want to do…there is even folder pockets in it to tuck some pictures of all my ideas. Thank you so much Beth…I love everything!!

Here are some pics of what I sent to Beth. These photos are before I sewed on the little rusty stars…I had a photo of everything I made her that I took right before I put them in the box, but I can’t seem to find it. I know I saved it to my computer, but I can’t seem to locate it…and they were so cute with the rusty star buttons sewed on them.

I have a couple of thrift shop finds to share. I decide last night to go to a local thrift shop while my hubby was here at home with the furnace guy. ( We had to have the motor replace in our furnace.) This thrift shop actually sends you coupons through email and you get one for each month of the year. And when you first sign up to receive them…you get a $5.00 off coupon for anything that is $5.00 or more. Well, if I didn’t use it by today, it was going to expire and the thrift shop junkie in me could not let that coupon expire!!

img_2643 I got this crock with the heart cut-outs and the little 1/2 cup pitcher. I’m not as much into hearts as I used to be, but I really liked this one…I’ve not seen anything like it before and I love the blue on it. (paid $3.49 for it and it is pretty good sized) The little pitcher was only .5o cents. Wonder if there was other measuring cup sizes at one time…would of been neat to have a set of them.

img_2644  My last purchase was these little candle holders. (paid .50 cents a piece for them) This is in our hall bathroom…and the room is on my list for redecorating after the kitchen is done. The bathroom is very small and I’ve kept the colors in there fairly light. I’m thinking about changing the picture in the frame and I need to put some gel stain on the shelf unit. I might paint the stars black…there are several more on another wall that runs along the top of a peg rack rail. I’ll be sharing more photos when I start working in there in the upcoming months. ~Thought I did really good using my $5.00 coupon!!~

Some of you have ask if I would share how I made my labels…I will do that here real soon. Hopefully in my next post if I can get another one in before Sunday as that is the day my birthday giveaway sign up starts. Tomorrow my sister and I are taking our brother out to dinner at Cracker Barrel for his birthday. Not sure what we  are doing on Saturday, so if I can’t post about the labels then…I’ll share about them after the giveaway is posted.

Until next time…    blessings, Cindy

~Some Tweaking & Basket Game Board Redo~

img_2639  It was a day of doing some tweaking…I’m starting to put out some of my Spring items. To my tavern shelf, I added a little wood bunny that I painted many years ago and an angel sitter than is in lighter colors.

img_2640  Thought you might like to see some close ups. I looked at the date on the back where I had signed it…1989. He is only 2 inches tall.

img_2641 I got this little angel sitter a few years back from a fellow crafter at one of my shows.

img_2540  Picked these eggs up last month at a local craft store, but can’t decide where I want to put them. I tried them in a few places, but just wasn’t happy with the way they looked there. So, I’ll have to keep you posted on where I put them.  I still need to get a box out of the closet that has Spring stuff in it…so I’m going to wait to show you more Spring goodies in my next few posts.

Now to some other tweaking that I did~

img_2633 Added this star to my basket that hangs near the coat closet in the living-room. I found it at a thrift shop and I’m pretty sure that the star is a reproduction. It has a knob on it and sort of looks like an old fashion press of some kind, but I not sure what it really is a reproduction of. Any ideas?

img_26301  This is what I placed on the top of my antique sewing machine table. The book that is on top of the spool box was my mom’s shorthand book when she was in high school. I put my old scoop candle holder on top of it. The button jar was one of those candle jars with the black tin lid. I’m planning on making a button label to put on it.

Speaking of labels… I had thought about purchasing some, but I only needed a few so I decided to try my hand at making some. Here is my first attempt~ I made 2…one in color and one in black & white. I thought they came out pretty good for my never having made anything like them before.

Now for the basket game-board redo~

img_2624  Before redo…

img_2636  After redo…with my other game boards. I still need to repaint the little wood circles that are the game pieces that hang around the handle (they will be black and red), but I couldn’t wait to show you how it turned out.

The start of my birthday giveaway is getting closer…only 5 days away! I’m making the sheep for the giveaway and also am working on mine…it’s my birthday gift to myself. I can’t wait to get them finished! I just love these sheep… too cute!! Until next time…    blessings, Cindy

~Country Shop Goodies & Thrift Shop Finds~

Hope everyone is having a great weekend. It snowed here today…so it was a good day to stay inside and get some stuff done. Plus after going quilt shop hoppin on Thursday and then to the country shop & a couple of thrift shops yesterday…it was good to be home all day. I got most of the angel pins done today. Only have 15 left to paint.

We had alot of fun yesterday…first we went to our favorite country shop that was having a Cabin Fever Sale. And what to my wondering eye should I see when I first entered the shop~

img_2620  but the Home Tour Edition of Country Sampler, so of course I had to get it. I loved looking at pictures of Linda’s home from “Primp Your Pad at Gathered Treasures”.  I also purchased this candle holder for $7.00, but haven’t had a chance to hang it up yet.  Not sure what room I want to put it in. I’m thinking maybe the kitchen or dining room. I’ll share another photo after I hang it up.

img_2618

Our next stop was to a thrift/gift shop…they carry new and old goodies. I purchased one new item and one old item.

img_2623 This was my new item. I’ve been wanting a sign to go above my laundry room for a long time and it was marked down to $5.00.

img_2617 The little black pitcher was my old item that I picked up for $2.00. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a black one before and I love it!

Our last stop was to the GW…I did find a couple of things, but lately there has not been much to look at. The shelves have actually been emptier than usual, but here is what I did get.

img_2621 This is a thread/spool holder…I’ve wanted one of these for years to hang on the wall in my sewing area, but never bother to purchase one until now. It was $2.99… so couldn’t go home without it! Hope to hang it up tomorrow and get all my thread put on it. Holds about 70 spools of thread.

img_2624 This little basket game-board is the last goodie that I got. It was .79 cents!! I’m going to work some magic on it and put it with my other game-boards. I’ll post a new picture of it after I get it redone.

My birthday giveaway is getting closer…only 8 days away until you can start signing up!!

Until next time…    blessings, Cindy
