I don’t know if any of you remember one of my posts back in January…about a house on the road behind our home that burnt to the ground in the early morning hours. Well, let me tell you about last night…I had stayed up late working on an order and went to bed around 1 am. Shortly after 2 am I woke up thinking that I had heard something…I listened for a moment and all was quiet. Then I decided to go downstairs to get a glass of water and when I walked into the kitchen…I could see an orange glow coming from behind the blind at the window over the sink. I peeked out and our neighbor’s house behind our home was totally engulfed in flames. I yelled up the stairs at my husband to wake up and called 911…and then I just started crying and praying that everyone got out of that house. We had a small breeze last night…so my DH decided to go outside to make sure that there were no embers blowing our direction and this is what he saw as he went around the side of our house.
We were up all night…it was very scary seeing this that close up!! We did hear that the father and his 3 year son was able to get out through one of the bedroom windows. (His wife was at work.) Their home is a total loss. The fire Marshall was out earlier today, but we heard that he is still not sure what started this fire. The owner said he was woke up by a loud bang and when he tried to out into the hallway…all he saw was thick smoke. He picked up his son, broke out the bedroom window and went out that way. It is just so hard to believe that 2 houses that are across the road from each other would burn to the ground within 4 months from each other.
My stomach has been so upset that I’ve had a hard time eating today. It took me a long time after the first fire in January to sleep at night and I know that it will be the same this time…all I see when I close my eyes is that huge fire. But it is getting late here…so I am going to try to go to bed now and hope that I can get some sleep.
Until next time…. Cindy

OMG Cindy that is just so scary and so awful….I can imagine how frightening that is to see such total devastation right before your eyes and so close to your own home….it’s good to know they made it out safely….I hope you will be able to settle down and relax for at least moments at a time to start with….try to think good thoughts, that usually helps me, maybe it will help you too.

Oh Cindy, I would be shaking right there beside you. Thank God the neighbors are safe. Fire is always one of my biggest fears. Two in the same neighborhood in such a short time would have me paranoid too. Take care and try to relax. *hugs*

How terrible it must have been to see that. Thank God everyone was safe. Hopefully the cause will not be suspicious so everyone can rest a little easier. Take care and try to rest. Have a good day.

How frightening!! I would be a nervous wreck too and have a hard time sleeping just like you. Hopefully they found out what caused the problem and hopefully it wasn’t arson or anything like that. What a scary scene. So happy that they made it out and even more relieved that you and your family are ok.
Hugs,
Lisa

I’m so glad the fire didn’t spread…thank goodness they got out safely!
I’d be like you though, very upset and afraid to close my eyes. Just seems strange that it’s so close and four months apart, I hope they found out what caused both fires.

I do not do well with fires. Just hearing about them and seeing photos scares me enough.
We lived next to the fire hall when I was a kid and every time the fire whistle went off, I would wake and lay in bed and listen as they left town…always praying it wasn’t our house! Such a fear I had! I guess it did not help that on Christmas Eve when I was 4, our neighbors house burnt (It was a farm so they weren’t really close to us but they were the next door neighbor!). Then when I was 6, my grandparents barn burnt to the ground with the cows in it. And when I was about 9, my aunt and uncle lost their house….Ugh…I hate even thinking about it…
Hope you get your rest today and that it’s a calmer day for you!

OMGosh Cindy how horrible. I pray it’s not arson – it’s frightning having them so close to each other.
I pray things will be okay for you with sleeping that you will feel better about this soon but I know how things can lurk in our minds even when we think we aren’t thinking about them.
Big hugs and I’M SOOOO HAPPY THE FAMILY CAME OUT OKAY….

OMG Cindy I can imagine how scared you were! That seems way to much of a coincidence that both of them so close would burn. I hope the fire Marshall does a thorough investigation. You will have to try to replace that scarey scene in your mind with a happy calming one when you close your eyes. My best to you, take care, hugs!

Cindy,
What a horrible experience, I agree it is totally odd that 2 nearby homes would totally burn to the ground. I am sure there will be answers, I can not imagine losing everything to a fire. I can understand how this can effect you, it does take time to work out the shock, I will keep you in my prayers and I hope you find some peace soon. And some benadryl at night can help with sleep. I have light allergies and it is a side effect that I appreciate when something is keeping me awake.

Oh, Cindy, what a scarey night for you!! Glad to hear no one was hurt……..I just hate hearing about fires. I have seen a couple bad ones on our road and get very fearful just thinking about it. Hope you get some well deserved rest after seeing all
that. Take care and talk to you later.

OH my word! Thank the Good Lord they are safe! But to loose everything – so so sad! I hope the Fire Marshall can determine the cause.

My Dear Cindy, what a tragic loss for your neighbors! So, so glad they got out safe. “Things” can always be replaced. I know you have to be horrified about 2 houses burning that close to home, but try to get some rest.
I want to thank you for the wonderful comments regarding my sweet Dad. You’re right, we are taking tiny baby steps right now, but at least they are going in the right direction. It will be a very long journey before this is over. I just try to have faith that God is watching over him and will bring him back to us.
Hope you have a great holiday weekend and we’ll talk again soon. Dawn
