~Some Prim Farmhouse Romance Tweaking~

I did some Spring cleaning…which lead to some prim farmhouse romance style tweaking. I dusted and rearranged the shelf in the kitchen…to get more of my white pitchers added to my collection, but I think it still needs a little more tweaking before I’m done with it. I took just about everything off the book shelves, the tavern shelf, and the table tops in the living room…and am rearranging my gatherings. It is looking sort of bare in there…however, my dining room table is covered with everything that is just waiting to find their new place in the living room. Who needs to eat…when you need to tweak!! LOL…

I’ll share some photos when I get it all done, but I thought that you might like a little peek. Remember this sheep that I got from my friend (Cheryl) for my birthday.

Well, he has found a home on the book shelf in the living room and he also got a touch of farmhouse romance added to him.  When Cheryl gave me this little fellow…she mentioned that she thought I might want to put a blanket on his back and I loved that idea.  So, I gave him a crocheted doily blanket…then added a round tag with the word “friendship” and a jeweled flower. Also added a little prim stained tag behind his rusty star. I love how it turned out and hope that Cheryl does too.

I really like how the sheep  looks with the mason jar lamp and the old spool with crocheted lace on it.  Oh, the two quilts on the shelf below were made by Mr. D’s grandmother…and are very special to both of us. We do use them occasionally…mostly when company comes to visit. Josie loves to cover up with them…her mama and aunt does too!!

Hope everyone is having a great week. I’m taking my mom out shopping for her birthday today and I’m picking up Josie from school on Thursday. She is really missing her and I just spending time together doing whatever we wanted…so I planned a girls day just for the two of us. A late lunch… a little shopping…and back to my house to make a craft or play a game.

Until next time….     blessings, Cindy

~My Dream Cupboard~

Thanks everyone for the comments on my decision between the white chippy weathered wood border or the antique beadboard border. I really like the white chippy one the best…my sister was the one that suggested the antique beadboard border because she thought the white was too much. I had thought about going with no border, but we have painted since that old border was put up 17 years ago and the old paint color is underneath there. Which means that I would have to repaint not only the living room and dining room, but also the stairway and the hallway upstairs…and I’m not really wanting to paint all of that right now, because I still like the color it is. I don’t have enough of the paint left to even paint where just the border is. So, I’m thinking I will be order my new border soon.

Now to the title of my post….here is my dream cupboard.

Mr D & I went to one of my favorite country shops a few weeks ago and I found this cupboard on sale. I would love to have this in our dining room. We took a photo and got the measurements to see if it would fit in there. This piece does not stick out too far from the wall…so I was hoping that it would fit, but it won’t as our dining room is just too narrow for any cupboard at all. I’m trying to figure out if I did some rearranging in our living room…if it could go in there since these two rooms are open to each other and I’m just not sure if that is going to work either. Bummer!!!…I can just see this piece filled with prim farmhouse pieces and white pitchers.

Until next time…..           blessings, Cindy

~Decisions to Make~

Decisions, Decisions!!…..Not only do I need to make a decision on this new machine embroidery program that I’m trying out before maybe purchasing it…but I need to decide on which wallpaper border to order to replace the old one that needs to come down.

Do I go with the border that looks like white chippy weathered wood?

Or do I go with the border that looks like antique beadboard?

This will be replacing the border that is in our living room and dining room, which are open to each other. When we built our first home…I decorated with the “cute” country style that was big in the 80′s. However, when we moved here 17 years ago…I wanted a change and decorated in the country cottage style. This border looked wonderful then, but it is not working with my decorating style that I have now and hasn’t been for a few years now. I haven’t shown it to you in any pictures before, because it really looked bad with my prim stuff. I have to say that it doesn’t look as bad with the farmhouse romance look as it did with the prims…but it still has to go!!

Ok, I’ll give you a peek of what it looks like…

Ok, one more peek….

But now that you’ve peeked…I need your opinion on which border would look better. The white chippy weathered wood border would make the white items stand out more, but the antique beadboard border would make the wood items stand out more.  Oh my…..Decisions, Decisions!!

Until next time…..     blessings, Cindy
