~Making Something Beautiful~

Something old…Something new…Something borrowed…Something blue!! I’ve been working on the something new and it is turning out very beautiful!!

This is what I’ve been working on the last few days. I’m making the veil to go with the wedding dress that I altered and sewed back on a zillion beads…it’s for a friend’s daughter that is getting married at the end of August.

It is a double layered veil with a ruffled edge. I added a row of rhinestones, a few pearls, and two ribbon roses at the top edge where I sewed the two layers together. This edge will be peeking through the curls of her up-do and I wanted it to be pretty.

I’m working on getting all the Swarovski crystals attached to the two layers of the veil. They will have a scattered affected when I’m all done.

As you can see, I still have  a few more crystals to put on…well, maybe more than a few!!

I hope to finish it up tomorrow. I will take another picture of the veil when I get it all done.

Here is a peek at the dress…incase you missed it when I posted it before.I’ll take a picture of the bride in her dress and veil to share with you after the wedding. I’ve known this young lady since she was in 3rd grade…and I so thrilled to be a part of making her feel special and beautiful on her wedding day.

Until next time…..         blessings, Cindy

~Vignettes On My Shelf~

I’ve been trying to figure out what to display on my living room shelf….this is the large tavern shelf that is hanging above the sofa. I change it around for the different seasons and holidays, but since I sold all the primitive items at our garage sale…I’m now trying to decide on what to put up there for everyday until the Fall season gets here. It’s still a work in progress, but here are some of the vignettes that are on my shelf for now.

Everything will most likely stay on this shelf unit until I change things out for the Fall season. Well…….unless I find something on one of the thrift shop/junkin’ trips.

Until next time…….           blessings, Cindy

~A Visitor, A Greeter and A Unwelcome Guest~

Just wanted to share with you my visitor at my front door the other morning…

a virgin tiger moth…He was at the front door when I open it up on Monday when the grandkids came over for the day.

And the greeter at the grocery store on Wednesday evening…

a blue heron…There is a pond out in front of Kroger’s and this fellow was greeting shoppers as we turned into the parking lot.

And this is the unwelcome guest that got into my daughter’s  brand new car yesterday…

Not sure what kind of bird this is… thinking it might be a young one or maybe a house wren. On the days that I watch the grandkids…my daughter comes over on her lunch hour to eat with the kids. As she stepped out of the car…this little fellow flew right into her and then landed in the floor-board of her new car. She tried to get him out of the car and he flew up under the steering wheel and went up into the dashboard. We were not sure if he would be able to find his way out and about an hour later…just as we were thinking that the car might have to go to the dealership to have the dashboard removed to get him out…he came out on his own. He so kindly posed for this photo on the driver’s door before he flew off into our pine tree.

I should tell you about the other unwelcome guests that we’ve had in the 17 years that we’ve lived here… the racoon that had  5 babies in our chimmey…the squirrel that fell into our fireplace and burnt his tail…the squirrel that was under the sofa and came out after my feet…the black bird that flew in the house… and the snake that was hanging out in our dining-room. But that’s another story for another day!! LOL…

Hope everyone has a great weekend. Until next time….. blessings, Cindy
