~Crafting and Baking~

Spent most of today crafting for my Christmas show…which is now only 2 weeks away. I’m trying to get all the Christmas/Winter jewelry finished up, so that I can get back to making the ornies, embroidering on more dish towels, and then starting the very tall snowmen. Here’s what I got done today…

Holly Pins with stocking or mittens…made 16 of these. I added a touch of red glitter to the berries and flaked on some snow with white paint.

I decided to also make some more mitten pins with the little snowman faces, but I did these more simple…made 7 of these.

Tomorrow…I’m going to make some Christmas tree pins and some snowmen pins.  Plus I hope to finish up my fabric candy canes…been stuffing some each day and I now have 20 done. Only 16 more to go!!

While the grandkids were here…Josie and I made some cupcakes and cookies while Peyton was supervising from his high-chair. We both put on the icing, but I let Josie decorate them all up by herself….I think she really likes lots of sprinkles!!

They sure are yummy…spice cupcakes with cream cheese icing.

Sugar Cookies…my favorite!! We made them from a recipe that was my grandma’s.  I remember making these with her and my mom when I was little. I’ve made these cookies with my girls when they were little and now with Joise…and Peyton as soon as he gets big enough.

My grandmother made this recipe up herself when she was a young girl. She was sent to live with her grandpa at the age of 11…to take care of him after her grandma had passed away. So she had to learn to cook and clean at a very young age. She found out that she loved to bake and cook…and made up several of her own recipes. After she passed away, my mom gave me all of grandma’s recipe cards. I have them in their own little recipe box and I will cherish them forever…and will one day pass them on to one of my girls or Josie.

Well, it is getting very late here…so I’m off to get some rest as I have another day of crafting ahead of me. Be back soon with more goodies to share. Until next time…..       blessings, Cindy

~Ornies And Thrift Shop Finds~

I’ve been making more Christmas/Winter ornies for my upcoming show.  I finished up 13 hearts…

…and 12 gingerbread men over the weekend.

I’ve started working on fabric candy canes…cut and sewed up 34 of them. Got 8 of them stuff and will be working on the rest of them over the next few days as time allows. My oldest daughter has to go out-of-state for her job and I will have the grandkids Monday evening through Wednesday evening. So I’m not sure how much…if any…crafting that I will get done while they are here. But that’s ok…cause this grandma will be getting lots of love, hugs, and kisses from her two favorite little ones.

I didn’t find much when I went out antiquing and thrifting this past Friday…but I did get a couple of little things. Couldn’t resist this cute little doggie statue at the antique shop…it remined me of my sweet little Chloe.

But my best find was this…

the Welcoming Angel from Willow Tree.

I picked this up from the Goodwill for only $3.99. I also got six vases for .25 cents to .99 cents each that I will be using on my snowman make-do’s. I hope to start them later this week or next week…planning on making at least 10 of them or maybe more. For the last several years…I’ve been trying to do a new snowman every year. Last year was the fuzzy ones and this year will be my tallest ones that I’ve ever made. Not saying anymore…you all will have to wait until they are done before you get any peeks at them.

Be back towards the end of the week after spending time with my grandkids. We have lots to do in just 3 days…getting to and from school and homework with Josie…then there is playtime and nap-time for Peyton. Plus I need to make some alterations to Josie’s Halloween costume where she is here…and we have cookies and cupcakes to make. Hmmm…I might need some nap-time too!! LOL…

Until next time…..       blessings, Cindy

~Christmas/Winter Pins For My Show~

My sister and I started working on jewelry for the Christmas show yesterday…and we got 31  pins made.  We made 10 each of these mittens. I crocheted the fuzzy trim that we put on them.

We also made 10 Christmas stocking pins with little felt gingerbread men…and 1 pin with the snowman face and snowflakes on it. My sister painted the tiny details on each one of the gingerbread men.

Today I went antiquing and thrifting with a friend…I did find a couple of things that I’ll share soon. I also found some vases that I will be using for some snowman make-dos that I’m wanting to make for the show. I can’t wait to start working on them now that I have everything I need.

Going to leave you with this photo of someone who is impatiently waiting for her mommy to go to bed.

Ok Chloe….mommy is getting off the computer in a few minutes. Well, maybe it will be more than a few minutes. LOL…

Until next time…..       blessings, Cindy
