~Crafting and Baking~

Spent most of today crafting for my Christmas show…which is now only 2 weeks away. I’m trying to get all the Christmas/Winter jewelry finished up, so that I can get back to making the ornies, embroidering on more dish towels, and then starting the very tall snowmen. Here’s what I got done today…

Holly Pins with stocking or mittens…made 16 of these. I added a touch of red glitter to the berries and flaked on some snow with white paint.

I decided to also make some more mitten pins with the little snowman faces, but I did these more simple…made 7 of these.

Tomorrow…I’m going to make some Christmas tree pins and some snowmen pins.  Plus I hope to finish up my fabric candy canes…been stuffing some each day and I now have 20 done. Only 16 more to go!!

While the grandkids were here…Josie and I made some cupcakes and cookies while Peyton was supervising from his high-chair. We both put on the icing, but I let Josie decorate them all up by herself….I think she really likes lots of sprinkles!!

They sure are yummy…spice cupcakes with cream cheese icing.

Sugar Cookies…my favorite!! We made them from a recipe that was my grandma’s.  I remember making these with her and my mom when I was little. I’ve made these cookies with my girls when they were little and now with Joise…and Peyton as soon as he gets big enough.

My grandmother made this recipe up herself when she was a young girl. She was sent to live with her grandpa at the age of 11…to take care of him after her grandma had passed away. So she had to learn to cook and clean at a very young age. She found out that she loved to bake and cook…and made up several of her own recipes. After she passed away, my mom gave me all of grandma’s recipe cards. I have them in their own little recipe box and I will cherish them forever…and will one day pass them on to one of my girls or Josie.

Well, it is getting very late here…so I’m off to get some rest as I have another day of crafting ahead of me. Be back soon with more goodies to share. Until next time…..       blessings, Cindy

Wow Cindy! The little designs on the stockings and mittens are amazing! So very cute! Sweet little snowman faces on the red mittens.

Josie did a great job on her sprinkling, hehe. I love sprinkles too. How wonderful that you have such a treasured piece from your grandma. What an awesome story that is and how neat that it will get handed on down in the family. I’m sure your grandma would be so proud of that!
