~Old Keys, A Tornado, and A Break~

Hi everyone…hope you all are having a great week.

They are calling for some nasty weather here later today. I’m not looking forward to that at all…we just had terrible storms here on Monday evening. About 8pm or so they issued a tornado warning…my youngest daughter was at work in the hair salon at the mall and was told to take shelter in the fire exit hallway.  My oldest daughter and grandkids were down at the ball park watching my son-in-law play at a church baseball game. They could see the storm rolling in and the game was called so that everyone could get to a safe place.

The kids did make it home from the ball park, but shortly after getting there an EF1 tornado went through their neighborhood.  Their home didn’t get any damage, but many of their neighbor’s did. However, they did lose power as 15 power poles came down and lots of trees blown over. Luckily, no one was injured from this tornado, but 43 homes ended up with damage. I just hope that today’s storms don’t bring any more tornadoes.

On my last post, I showed all the old keys that I purchased from the flea market…..Well, I was telling my mother-in-law about them when we were visiting last Sunday and she gave me 2 old sets of keys that she had.

She said that she had been saving them for me and had forgotten about them until I told her about the ones I had just purchased. I love these old sets of keys…and am keeping them for myself. They are already hanging on the peg-rack in my dining room.

Also wanted to let you know that I’m taking a little blogging break for about a week. Everything is fine, but I’m going to be very busy and didn’t want you all to worry about me. My best friend that I’ve known since I was 10 years old is coming back home for a visit and I get to see her tomorrow. I’m so excited and can’t wait to see her…it has been several years. Then we will be busy with family over the Memorial Day weekend. If I have a chance…I will still pop in to see what you all are up to. See you all back here again around Tuesday or Wednesday of next week.

Until then…..         blessings, Cindy

~Flea Market Find and Lanterns~

Hi everyone…..

Hope you all had a great weekend. Mine was a busy one…I went to the Flea Market on Saturday with a friend and on Sunday, we went to check out the site where my niece is getting married in 4 weeks. Wow…was it beautiful!!The wedding is at the home of her soon to be in-laws…it will be outside by their gazebo that is near a large pond with pine trees beside it and a lake just beyond the trees.

Ok…back to Saturday and my trip to the Flea Market. Twice a year…once in the Spring and then again in the Fall there is an Antique & Flea Market Extravaganza held at the county fairgrounds. This was the largest I’ve seen it in years. There were booths everywhere…in every building…in every barn…on the paved areas and everywhere there was grass…they even had large tents up that had several vendors under them. I walked so much that my legs and feet are still hurting.

Now one would like that at a Flea Market that large I would come home with lots of goodies…but I didn’t. I did see lots of things that I liked, but nothing really talked to me and said that it had to come home to live with me. LOL… Maybe it was because of how hot it got that day…got up to 83 degrees and I ended up getting sunburned. Well…I was hoping to find some things that I could use for my jewelry making and I didn’t have much luck with that either until I came across this can of old keys.

I haven’t counted them yet, but I’m thinking that there might be close to 100 of them…and I got the whole thing for $5.00. The can is pretty old-looking too. My sister loved it…so I told her that she could have it to put on the shelf in her kitchen.

Even though I didn’t find any goodies for my home at the flea market…I did find these wonderful little lanterns at our local craft store. I had been looking for a couple of small ones to go with my large lantern for a while now and was so excited when I got an email that they had gotten these in for a special sale this weekend.

I paid $6.95 for the smallest one and $9.95 for the other one…they are made out of wood and have tin on the tops of them. My large one that I’ve had for a while is made of all tin, but I think that all 3 of them look great together. Thinking that I want to find different battery candles to go in the small ones…maybe white ones to match the larger one.

Well….that’s all for now as it is getting late here and I need my rest because I’m giving Miss Chloe a bath tomorrow, plus trimming her hair. Our mobile groomer closed her business…so I’m going to see if I can groom her myself. I used to groom our little Yorkie-Poo, but he was a gentle little guy…so we’ll see if I can handle our wild child. Wish me luck!!

Until next time…..       blessings, Cindy

~Still Making Changes~

I’ve been very busy for the last week or so helping my youngest daughter paint and redecorate her bedroom. While we worked in there…we had to find a place to put all her stuff and guess where it ended up? In my sewing/craft room! So there has been no crafting for me…the room was so full of her things that you could only take a step or two past the doorway. I’m happy to say that I can finally get back in there…and that is a good thing as I have some birthday gifts to finish, a house-warming gift to make, and a surprise for someone special. (Can’t say who it is for because she reads my blog.)

Since I couldn’t get in my sewing room…I decided to do a little redecorating in my living room. Here’s a peek at the shelf above my sofa…not sure yet if this is the way I will keep it.

Hope to get the old windows hang up soon and the antique printers box too. As many of you know, I’ve been changing my style…not really as much as changing my style, but going back towards the style that I had for years. Well…not exactly 100% the same. I’ve been looking through a lot of my books, magazines, and blogs for inspiration. I’m also going to a big flea market this weekend and I hope to find some goodies there too. More pics to share soon.

Back in March…Gina made this for me for my birthday, but when I got it there was Sweet Annie on it and unfortunately I’m allergic to it. So…..My sister took the Sweet Annie off for me and gave the little pillow tuck a bath…and now it is sitting in this old enamel bowl in my kitchen. The bowl has been sitting there empty for years…I think it was just waiting for this little pillow tuck. It looks perfect in there!! Thanks Gina…I love it!!

Well that’s all for now…be back in a few days with some pictures to share. Going out shopping and to lunch today with my sister…it is her birthday. Happy Birthday Vicki…Love ya big sister!!

Until next time…..    blessings, Cindy
