~It Was A Busy Weekend~

What a busy…but fun weekend it was!!

On Friday evening, I got a call from my best friend, Vickie…we’ve been best buddies since 5th grade. I was so excited that she was calling me…she lives in Florida now, but she was not calling me from there. She said…”Surprise…I’m here in town at my in-laws…want to come down and visit with me?” I was out the door and down at her in-laws within 15 minutes. She met me in the driveway and we stood there hugging each other…it had been a few years since we last saw each other.

We visited until late in the evening…catching up on everything, but then I had to head home. Saying goodbye is always hard…hoping Mr D and I get to go to Florida next year to stay with her and her husband for a week. She said we all should go on a cruise together…now that would be fun!! (Didn’t realize how bad my shirt looked in this photo…I’ve lost 15 pounds and my clothes are getting too big. Thinking I need a shopping trip for some new clothes.)

Saturday morning…Mr D, me, and our youngest daughter went to the huge flea market that was here in town…there were 3300 vendors. Stacey from “Tattered n Torn” and Angie from “Just A Lil Raggedy” had booths in the Folkbarn…so I got to see both of them again. Angie gave me part of an old chenille bedspread for some crafting that I want to do. So I surprise her with a little thank you gift…a towel with her name on it.

I did find a couple of goodies at the flea market…got some interchangeable beads for a new fabric cord necklace that my hubby got me for Mother’s Day. And I also got this…the old wood spool in the wood frame.

The vendor told me that the spool would have had yarn on it…and that the wood frame then went into a loom. I had not seen one like this before and thought it was a great piece to add to my collection of old sewing spools.

The Vintage Market Place was also at the flea market…they had a huge area between the buildings. You couldn’t miss them, because they were under the big white tents. I loved this area…lots of old white chippy things and you all know that I love old white chippy things!! My daughter got this pretty bracelet from one of the vendors in this area…

We also helped my parents finish up getting moved to their new home this weekend. Wow…is moving a lot of work!! Luckily, they only moved about 10 minutes away from their old house…so not very far to get things moved from one place to the other.

Plus the puppies got groomed yesterday. And while they got groomed…Mr D and I went to pick out our new kitchen cabinets. (More on that in another post.)

So today…this is what me and Zoey did after our busy weekend.

Until next time…….        blessings, Cindy

~Birthday Gifts for Gina~

Our good blogging friend Gina of “Cat Nap Inn Primitives” had her birthday on this past Saturday. I made her some goodies, but couldn’t share them with all of you until she got them. They arrived to her today…so now I can show them to you.

Gina has strawberries in her kitchen, so when my sister gave me some vintage strawberry fabric from an old apron…I knew that I wanted to make her a strawberry pin-keep.

I remembered her saying that she loved the new necklaces that I was making, so I gave her…her very own necklace made by me.

I use old and new jewelry pieces to make my necklaces. It is so much fun looking at thrift stores and flea markets for old jewelry to put into my necklaces. The little flower pieces on the leafs are off of a vintage necklace and the clear stone on the bottom piece is from an old necklace. And there is another picture on the back side of the frame, so if the picture was to turn around…it is pretty on that side too, but I forgot to get a picture of it.

I also gave her a prim kitty angel pin…thought is was perfect for her. She can wear it…or pin it on a doll…or pin it to a branch on her Christmas tree.

I’m working on a few other surprises for a couple of blogging buddies and will be able to share those sometime this coming weekend.

Until then…….         blessings, Cindy

~A Goose, A Doll, and A Bad Dog~

Wow…it has been a week since my last post. Didn’t mean to be gone this long… I helped my mom with her garage/moving sale last Friday and Saturday. While over there on Thursday evening getting things moved out into the garage…I saw the Canadian Goose that Mr D. and I made for her many years ago.

He made it from a pattern I gave him and I painted it. I just love this goose! It is the only one that I’ve ever made, but I’m really thinking about getting the pattern out to make a few of these for my shows this Fall. Yep…I love this goose!!

I did find some time to do a little tweaking in my sewing room…and found the perfect spot to put the doll that Sheila from “Seasons of the Heart” made me from our swap.

She is hanging in front of my aprons and is holding the little mouse pincushion mouse that Sheila also made. The little penny-rug that is hanging from the basket was made by Gina of “Cat Nap Inn Primitives”.

And now about the bad dog…

Yes, this cute little thing was a very bad dog!! Just look at what she did…

Chewed the corner on one of my quilted pillow shams on our bed. And now for the really bad part…we know that she ate the fabric, because it was nowhere to be found. She didn’t eat any or very little of the stuffing…I found it laying on the bed, but I did pull a little piece of stuffing out of her mouth. Now…we wait to see if she can pass it or if she has a blockage. The vet said it takes about 24 to 36 hours, so we will know sometime tomorrow morning or afternoon. Sure hope she can pass it and that we don’t have to have it surgically removed.

Until next time…….         blessings, Cindy
