~More Farmhouse Touches~

Since it has been so cold with wind chills below zero…I’ve been staying home and doing some rearranging in the living room and adding some more farmhouse touches in there.

Old oil can…old tin scoop…and a little mason jar with tiny white flowers.

Added some berries in an old basket on a shelf with my Ohio sign. Can’t decide if the birds are staying there or not.

Also got some new lamps to give me the look I’m wanting…and this one just says Farmhouse to me.

These next two lamps came from Pottery Barn…one on either side of our sofa. Decorated this side with a small dress form, a pear made out of twine, and a spool of thread. One side more feminine…

And decorated this side with vintage binoculars, an old glass piece, a candle warmer and our weather monitor. One side more masculine…

We are planning on getting a new sofa in the Spring…can’t wait to see what is out there that will give me more of a farmhouse style with the sofa.

Until next time…..         Blessings from me to you, ~Cindy

~Welcome Winter~

Christmas has all been put away for another year, but I have decided to ~Welcome Winter~ instead.

A few snowmen waiting for winter to get here too. The little snowmen in the baby shoe was a Christmas gift from a blogging friend. (Thanks so much, Cheryl…I love them. They are as cute as can be!!)

Sound like Winter is finally going to get here tomorrow with freezing rain for most of the day. If I only had a pair of ice skates…maybe I could go outside…Not!!

Oh…how I wish that it would be all snow instead. Thinking tomorrow is a good day to stay at home and maybe watch a movie or read a book.

I just had to share this pretty white flower that I got for Christmas. It is made of wood and the center piece is rusty metal with little jewels. I just love it!!

Hope everyone stays safe if you are expecting the freezing rain where you live too.

Until next time……

Blessings from me to you…..  ~Cindy

~Things Are Finally Getting Back To Normal~

I’m been missing from blogland for a little while now and it feels good to be back to blogging again.

Show season is over for another year and it was a good year….my new vintage style necklaces were a hit…

and I sold out of all the Christmas pins.

For the first time ever…I got my Christmas tree up in time for Thanksgiving.

We had all of my family over at our home and my mom gave us a scare…she fell coming in our front door. Luckily…she didn’t break any bones, but she did sprain her wrist.

My sister and I went to some of our favorite shops to see them all decked out for the Christmas season. One shop had a 50% off coupon and I used it to buy a light up picture…that I think is perfect for my farmhouse kitchen.

Hope everyone had a great week. I’ll be back soon to share more of my Christmas decorating with all of you.

~Oktoberfest is 5 Days Away~

I’ve been away from my blog for a little bit…there is a lot going on in our lives right now.

My father-in-law’s health has taken a turn downhill and he is now very weak. We have been going up to my in-laws home as much as we can to help out…they live an hour away from us. Our whole family has put many things into place to help him to be able to stay in their home with my mother-in-law for a while longer. Then yesterday…we got a phone call letting us know that our brother-in-law’s brother had a massive heart attack while they were out hunting in the woods yesterday. Haven’t heard any updates yet, but I’m sure praying that he will be okay.

Plus my youngest daughter and my sister have had the flu for the last few days…and I had been around both of them. So hoping that I don’t get it as my next show is only 5 days away. I’ve been spending every moment at home on making new necklaces to replace some that sold at the last show.

I still have more necklaces to finish up. Plus…I’ve also been crocheting some ruffled scarves to replace some that I sold at the last show and little Zoey thought she should model it for you.

It is very gloomy looking outside today…like it could rain at any minute, but not a drop of rain yet. The rain seems to all be North East of us. Since there is no sun today…I decided to turn on a few lights.

Living Room…had to pull the blind down to get a good picture of it. Just order this farmhouse style light last week…from LTD Commodities for only $19.00.

Kitchen Light….had this rooster light in my kitchen for years.

Another Kitchen Light…got these little mason jar lights a few years ago from a local shop and I just love the look of them.

Well…it is back to making necklaces for the show.

Until next time…….       farmhouse blessings from me to you, Cindy

~Loving Me Some Whites~

I have been wanting more white in my decor for a while now and for some reason was just very nervous about picking up the paint brush. Well…I finely did it and started painting some pieces white.

I’ve had these 2 wood bowls for several years…pick them up for next to nothing when a local little prim shop closed.

Well…they just were not fitting in with the farmhouse style that I’m wanting in my home. So they got a makeover and I just love how these bowls turned out. Painted them white and then distressed them with a little gel stain and some sanding.

Also painted this wood plate…it was a light orange, but I forgot to take a before photo of it.

This wooden bowl with a handle also got painted white…it was dark brown before I painted and distressed it.

Couldn’t stop there…so I painted this little box white too.

A few months ago, I painted these bandboxes…one white and the other one red. Now I’m wondering if I should paint the red one white…

BB (2)

…but I do have some touches of red in the living room.

Just ignore the blanket on the back of the sofa…I keep that there for the Yorkie girls to sleep on.

But I’m just wondering if it would look better if both of the bandboxes were white. Hmmm…what do you think?

My next big project is to paint the huge wood trunk white that we use as the coffee table in front of the sofa.

Until next time…….       farmhouse blessings, Cindy

~Crafting on a Snowy Day~

Before I get to the crafty project that I did today…thought I would let you know that I did get to the garage sale/vintage show, but it was not worth the $3.50 per person that we paid to get in. There were a few vintage booths and a few primitive booths…plus a few garage sale booths, but the rest were booths full of stuff Made In China. My daughter got a few things, but I didn’t buy anything. I did see a bunch of old jewelry pieces, but they weren’t in good enough condition for me to reuse in my necklaces.

Now for what I did today…

My sister gave me this wood pear several months ago…she found it while out thrifting.

I decided that it needed a little makeover…so my sister gave me an old newspaper she had and I went to work on covering it with clips from the newspaper.

After I got it all covered…I thought that the old newspaper still didn’t look old enough, so I rubbed some brown gel stain onto the paper…and I really liked how it turned out.

I now have another Pear to add to my collection…and for now, it is on the shelf above the sofa in the living room.

My little grandson’s birthday was today and his birthday party is on Saturday…I can’t believe that he is 4 years old…time sure goes by so quickly.  I will be working on his cake for the next couple of days and will be back soon with photos to share of his fire truck cake and cupcakes.

Until then…….        farmhouse blessings, Cindy

~Decorating with Gifts from Friends~

While stuck inside this past week with those nasty bitter cold temperatures and snow…I decided to do a little decorating with the gifts that I received from my friends.

My blogging friend, Cheryl, sent me some awesome goodies. She knows that I have a thing for mice…now let me just say, not the living kind. Had one of those in my kitchen once and that was enough for me!! A few years ago…she made me this adorable little mouse…who now has a new friend to keep him company in my wood candle tray.

Every farmhouse needs a sheep…I found this cute little straw sheep at Macy’s in their Christmas department.

This year for Christmas…Cheryl made me another mouse in a red ticking stocking. Oh…how I love red ticking…says Farmhouse to me. He has a little tag on him that says…”not a creature was stirring…not even a mouse”. Well…I couldn’t bring myself to put him away after the Christmas decorations came down…so I just turned him around.

She also made me the cutest little gingerbread men and put them in an old enamel pan. I have them in my kitchen on a cutting board stand.

She knows that I have a love for white water pitchers and sent me this beautiful large ironstone pitcher.

Thanks Cheryl…for the wonderful gifts.

My friend Linda and I are sewing buddies. We have so much fun and get into serious trouble when we go on shopping trips to the fabric stores and quilt shop hops. She made me the cutest Peahen pincushion for my Christmas gift this year.

She made it for my sewing room, but I have Miss Peahen hanging out in the living room right now.

Thanks Linda…I’m pretty sure I hear the quilt shop calling our names!!

My friend Karen got me the sweetest little pinecone squirrel for Christmas.

Well…today while out shopping, I decided that he needed a friend…so now I have 2 of them.

She also got me a cute little paper bird.

It was meant to be an ornament…but I cut the ribbon and tied it in a bow, so that I could leave it out all the time.

Thank you Karen…for the cute little creatures of nature.
